Testimony

In 1933, the Jewish population of Europe was roughly more than nine million. Most European Jews lived in countries which had been occupied by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. By the end of the war, six million Jews were killed - almost two out of every three European Jews - as part of the 'Final Solution', the Nazi policy to exterminate the Jews and undesirables of Europe.

Zigi Shipper was just 10-years-old when his life was confined to working in a ghetto in Poland because he was Jewish. Now one of the few remaining survivors, Zigi spends his time working with the Holocaust Educational Trust. Their aim is to educate young people about the Holocaust and the important lessons to be learned for today. Zigi regularly attends schools and events to raise awareness and understanding of the atrocities through his experience of it.

Below you will find an interactive map, charting Zigi's testimony of what he experienced.
